Occupation and Completion

Prior to occupying a new building it is necessary to hold an Occupation Certificate. This is to certify the building has been inspected and is complete to a degree that makes it safe to occupy. There is also a requirement to obtain a Certificate of Completion once all works have been finalised.

Please be aware it is necessary to ensure all components of your development have been inspected prior to obtaining your Occupancy and/or Completion Certificate/s. These include:

- the building work
- the plumbing work
- the on-site wastewater management system (if in an unsewered area)
- any planning requirements

If you would like to check what inspections you still require for an Occupancy or Completion, feel free to contact our Building Department on 6323 9315. It will assist if you have a copy of your permits handy so you can quote the permit number.
