Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Grant 

West Tamar Council’s Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Grants responds to funding requests for replacement batteries and pads for Sporting Clubs and facilities within the West Tamar.

Grant application can be submitted to council to the maximum value of 50% of the replacement purchase price.

Applications open on the 1 July 2022, and close 5pm, 1 May 2023, or until the funding pool is exhausted. Applications will be assessed and funded on a ‘first-in’ basis. Applicants are responsible to ensure that their application is received by council by the closing date and time.

West Tamar Council has no liability in respect to the suitability and operation of the automated external Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) unit. Club representatives need to direct all warranty, consumer or legal claims to the equipment supplier or manufacturer.

West Tamar Council reserves the right to request up to three quotes as part of the application process.

West Tamar Council’s Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) Grants are funded by the 2022-2023 Small Project Grant budget allocation.


Who Can Apply?
West Tamar not for profit community organisation’s and venues delivering community programs, sport and active recreation programs anywhere in the West Tamar are eligible to apply. Applicants must:

  • Be incorporated not for profit, or auspiced by an incorporated organisation, and/or have an ABN
  • Be located, operating in or be able to provide a proven benefit to the community of West Tamar municipality
  • Not be subject to any legal impediment or adverse circumstances
  • Expend grant funds and provide copies of receipts/invoices to council within 6 weeks receiving funding approval

What will be Funded?
Funding is only available for:

  • Replacement batteries and pads
  • Retrospective funding is not available.

What will not be Funded?

  • Fixed surfaces and storage structures (for example alarmed cabinets)
  • Capital works
  • Ongoing training
  • Out of warranty repair of equipment
  • Maintenance of unit or cabinet
  • Consumables including replacement of batteries and electrode pads)
  • Replacement of the Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) if it is damaged, or unrecoverable through wear and tear, vandalism, accident, theft or misuse
  • General first aid maintenance items or equipment (for example items required to clean and disinfect the unit after use)
  • Temporary replacement Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)s (outside the terms and conditions of the manufacturer’s warranty and the organisations maintenance schedule

Submitting an Application

  • Complete, sign and date this application form, ensuring you demonstrate how the items/equipment will be used and how the purchase will assist your organisation
  • Attach proof of price for all items identified. Proof of price may include written quotations with ABN displayed, catalogues/webpages demonstrating actual price of items
  • Email signed application form and scanned attachments to: wtc@wtc.tas.gov.au or mail to PO Box 16 , Riverside.

Working out the GST

  • If your organisation is registered for GST, the grant amount requested and all expenses should be calculated excluding GST. (If you have received a quote that includes GST, but does not itemise the GST amount, divide the amount by 11 then multiply by 10 to work out the amount without GST).
  • If your organisation is NOT registered for GST, the grant amount requested and all expenses should be calculated including GST.

Grant Process

Applications are assessed monthly at the Community Development Meeting and applicants are notified of the application outcome within 10 business days of the applicable assessment date.

Successful applicants will then be required to purchase the approved items and submit an invoice to West Tamar Council for payment for the approved amount along with the proof of purchase. For further clarification, please contact the Community Services Department on (03) 6323 9200.
