The West Tamar Council was recognised for excellence in tourism at the Tasmanian Tourism Awards Gala in Hobart last week.

The Council won gold in the Local Government Award for Excellence in Tourism category.

The Tourism Industry Council Tasmania’s chief executive Amy Hills acknowledged the West Tamar for its outstanding commitment to supporting and developing tourism within the region.

Council also took out a bronze award in the Visitor Information Services Award category for its Tamar Visitor Centre at Exeter.

Renowned West Tamar vineyard Holm Oak took out told in the Tourism Wineries Award category.
