Mobile Food Vendors

Council has adopted a policy to support the operation of mobile food vendors within the West Tamar Municipality. A number of sites are currently available for Mobile Food Vendors to operate.

From 2021, a number of additional sites will be available for Mobile Food Vendor operators within the West Tamar Municipality. The Guidelines and Application form will be updated when these sites become available.

ELIGIBILITY:
Only operators of road registered vehicles where trade is wholly from inside the vehicle can obtain a permit, and applicants must provide evidence of the following:

  • Current state-wide mobile food business registration or notification;
  • Current vehicle registration; and
  • Current Public and Product Liability Insurance with cover of $20 million.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS:
An application form must be completed and submitted to Council together with copies of the following documents:

  • Current state-wide mobile food business registration or notification;
  • Current Public Liability and Product Liability Insurance with cover of $20 million (minimum);
  • Current road vehicle registration;
  • Details of the type of food and drink that will be traded (eg. menu); and
  • A ‘Letter of Consent’ to operate within 200m of a fixed take away food premises (if applicable).
  • COVID-19 Safety Plan

 

Note: To obtain a permit for operation of mobile food vehicle on private property, please contact Council’s Planning Department.
