West Tamar Council Local Area Advisory Groups

West Tamar Council auspices four Local Area Advisory Groups in Beaconsfield - Beauty Point, Exeter - Gravelly Beach, Legana, and the Northern Area (incorporating Greens Beach, Kelso and Clarence Point).


Local Area Advisory Group membership is by nomination with successful nominees serving a two year term. The current terms were extended to June 2021 through an agenda item at the June 2020 Council Meeting.


Meeting bi-monthly, the role of West Tamar Council’s Local Area Advisory Groups is to:

a)      Act as a representative, consultative, and advisory body to Council on behalf of the wider community (in the respective areas).

b)      Act as a conduit between Council and the wider community (in the respective areas).

c)       Provide advice or recommendations to Council about a particular issue or project.

d)      Action, where possible, ideas for community development in the local area.

e)      Develop and assist with public participation (consultation and engagement) on behalf of or in conjunction with Council, when required, and in line with Council’s plans and strategies.

f)       Promote the activities of Council in the respective areas.

g)      Encourage pride of place among residents.
